THANK YOU!!

A Lantern of Light within the Darkness
Come, let us drink the coffee,
black coffee, spicy and bitter
like happiness.
Come, and look out the window,
a fisherman has lit a lantern of light
within the darkness.

Lea Naor, from the poem “Coffee on the Beach”
Translation from Hebrew – Aliza Raz-Melzer

This week, it’s time to shine our own small light within the darkness and tell you about some very special coffee growers – and new Chubeza associates, AGROCAFE.

Agrocafe is an Israeli company committed to aiding family‑run coffee farms across the globe (“smallholders”) to cope with global warming’s destructive effects on their coffee plantations.
Due to climate change, soil depletion, erosion, and inefficient use of water resources, a large number of farmers – especially in developing countries – are experiencing declining yields, thus unable to realize the full potential of their plantations.

Agrocafe has created partnerships with coffee farms in need of support. By implementing irrigation and fertilization systems in these plantations and providing professional guidance to the farmers, they improve the plantations’ productivity – both in quantity and quality.
Agrocafe’s business‑partnership model with these family farms embodies the values of Fair Trade to assure dignified, respectable livelihoods for the farmers, their families, and their workers.

This close involvement in the plantations allows Agrocafe to provide their close oversight all the way to the brimming coffee cup – from selecting seedlings suited to the climate and soil of each region, through processing, sorting, and shipping – assuring the quality of the green coffee beans. These beans then make their way to be roasted in Agrocafe’s small, distinctive roastery in the village of Srigim in the Ella Valley, using some of the world’s most advanced roasting equipment, custom-built under their guidance.

The roastery also includes a charming, cozy café. Once the shelling and the war have ended (may it be very soon!), we invite you to take a trip to the lovely Ella Valley, sip a delectable cup of coffee, and enjoy stories and fascinating details that the Agrocafe team will happily share with you… including helping you to tailor-make your own personal blend.

Their coffee beans are packed in special bags to preserve freshness. Agrocafe’s single‑origin coffees and blends are the result of years of development, continuously monitored by their coffee gurus to ensure the finest flavor via various brewing methods.  Agrocafe’s slogan “from our plantations to your cup” reflects a worldwide journey, empowerment for growers, and Israeli ingenuity.

At Chubeza, we’re beginning our cooperation with Agrocafe by offering one coffee from their NATURAL FARMS series, featuring premium coffee made from organic beans, free of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. As a first step, we’re offering their organic 1226+ blend, finely ground for Turkish/black coffee.

Add Agrocafe’s distinctive coffee today to your Chubeza box, via our ordering system.

We await your feedback, plus any special requests for your preferred grinds or coffee varieties.

May this bring you a moment of calm amidst the chaos. May the war speedily end, bringing the gifts of tranquility and insight to us all.

Take care and stay safe,

Alon, Bat-Ami, Dror, Einat and the entire Chubeza team
