We’re delighted to announce the return of the long-awaited, very special A Year in the Garden illustrated Hebrew-Gregorian agricultural calendar that meshes local art with seasonal farming wisdom. This calendar is essentially a monthly guide to home gardening and the Land of Israel’s indigenous Nature, in step with the yearly rhythm of the garden, the field, and the forest.
A Year in the Garden’s calendar and weekly planner are filled with exquisitely illustrated information on growing vegetables, trees, and flowers, based on the rhythm of the season and the environment. Plus, there’s helpful professional gardening tips for the home garden, foraging and food preservation, seasonal recipes, intricate illustrations of wild plants, sowing, planting, and harvesting times, international “Green Days,” sun and moon phases, and more delightful surprises.
This calendar is the loving creation of Ilana Stein, a talented designer and illustrator who graduated from Bezalel’s Visual Communication Department. Ilana and her partner Davidi live in the Jerusalem Hills, raising their family close to nature and the seasons. A passionate home gardener and farmer, Ilana also guides foraging tours and teaches gardening and sustainability. Her encounters with nature throughout the year offer her a close, loving look at its abundance – sharing that beauty in this calendar, now in its 12th edition. In A Year in the Garden, Ilana weaves together her passions for foraging, cooking, farming, gardening, and illustration.
The A Year in the Garden project was born of a deep desire to make practical knowledge about our surroundings accessible to as many as possible, in the hope of strengthening our connection to the wondrous processes of the seasons, the growth of food, and the abundance available at all times of the year. And indeed, the community around this calendar grows year by year, along with local gardens across the country.
The 2026 A Year in the Garden Calendar is dedicated to flowers – to the cycle of blooming, to simple beauty, and to nature’s wisdom. Each month holds delicate hand-drawn illustrations and a glimpse into the season: what’s blooming today, what to pay heed to, monthly activities, and ways to connect with what’s happening outside and within. This is a calendar that invites you to notice the smallest details, follow the rhythm of the year, and discover that blooming is much more than beautiful.
In addition to the A Year in the Garden calendar and its array of intricately illustrated products, Ilana and Davidi also maintain “Blogina,” a seasonal blog inspired by A Year in the Garden. Each month they share insights into what’s happening now in the garden, field, and forest, offering great tips and ideas for foraging, cooking, and gardening.
For example, Blogina’s August tips include foraging summer wild fruits, saving seeds from summer vegetables, recipes for cooling infusions of fruits and medicinal plants, yummy fruit chutney, homemade sodas and juices from seasonal fruits, the magical tale of fig pollination, and much more…
We invite you to peek (be enchanted and get drawn in) to Ilana and Davidi’s amazing Blogina – fair warning: it’s addictive!
Each A Year in the Garden product is produced via environmentally friendly printing processes: printed on ecological paper, with soy-based ink, zero-waste packaging, and most important – abounding with love and care for nature and the earth.
