Wednesday deliveries this week are moved up to Tuesday, September 17th. (Monday deliveries as usual.) Make your additional orders for Tuesdays by this Monday!
During Chol HaMoed Sukkot, there will be no deliveries, thus you will not be receiving boxes next week, Monday and Wednesday, the 23rd and 25th of September.
If you wish to increase your vegetable boxes before the holidays, please advise as soon as possible.
Open Day at Chubeza: In keeping with our twice-yearly tradition, we invite you for a Chol HaMoed “pilgrimage” to Chubeza to celebrate our Open Day. The Sukkot Open Day will take place on Tuesday, September 24th, the 20th of Tishrei (fifth day of Chol HaMoed), between 12:00-17:00.
The Open Day gives us a chance to meet, tour the field, and nibble on vegetables and other delicacies. Children have their own tailor-made tours, designed for little feet and curious minds, plus special activities and a vast space to run around and loosen up. (So can the adults…)
This year, the Open Day will take place in our new open field outside the Moshav, so before you head our way–even those of you who know your way to Chubeza– please take a look at the updated driving instructions on our website under “Contact Us.”

A request to those of you who receive boxes every other week:
Since we do not deliver next week, after the holiday all bi-weekly delivery recipients will be receiving their boxes the same week, creating a very busy week for us and a scarce one the following week. This imbalance creates a hardship for us. Therefore, we would like to request from anyone who can forfeit their post-holiday box (30/9 or 2/10) and renew their delivery cycles the next week to please inform us. This would mean that your next box will be delivered on 7-9 of October (and every other week afterwards). Everyone is welcome, of course, to purchase vegetables at the Open Day.
An additional option is to receive the vegetables for two consecutive weeks, on September 30/October 2 as well as October 7/9, and then restart your bi-weekly deliveries afterwards. This, too, will help us balance our delivery schedule.

Over the past two weeks, we sent you the beautiful Chubeza calendar designed by Chana Netzer. We tried not to miss anyone, but if for some reason you did not receive this gift, please advise, and we’ll dispatch one to you at the first opportunity.
Those who wish to purchase additional copies of the calendar will have the opportunity to buy them at the Open Day for 20 NIS per copy.

Our Sukkot Guests
In honor of Sukkot, and the arrival of Ein Harod’s organic almonds, we want to remind you again of the excellent small manufacturers who are our guests at Chubeza all year long (not only on Sukkot) and whose yummy products you can add to your vegetable boxes.
Though we think of you quite often, the idea to add products to your vegetable boxes was not part of a marketing strategy of “the clients want a comprehensive product basket.” Rather it stems from our belief in the importance of creating a direct connection between manufacturers and consumers, and heightening the consumers’ knowledge concerning the way the various products are made, in addition to offering a variety of natural uncultivated food without concentrated additives as a healthier alternative to everyone—including the environment. This type of direct, financial connection contributes to the development and endurance of small, local, independent manufacturers.
With this thought, we contacted several small organic food manufacturers from our immediate surroundings as well as throughout our tiny country, inviting them to add their products to our weekly deliveries: organic fruit from Karmei Yossef, right over the hill; organic flour and semolina ground in Hadera; organic sprouts sprouted in Nataf in the Jerusalem hills; genuine honey from Sha’al in the Golan Heights; organic crackers from Kibbutz Kfar Hanasi in the Galilee; organic dates from Kibbutz Samar in the Arava; probiotic food from Eshtaol (near Beit Shemesh); dried fruit and fruit leather from Melissa at neighboring Kibbutz Gezer; organic olive oil from the ecological community of Rotem in the Jordan Valley; sourdough bread and other baked goods from Manu’s ovens in nearby Moshav Taoz; plant extract from Liron at the neighboring Beit Chashmonai, and now organic almonds from Kibbutz Ein Harod in Emek Yisrael (the Jezreel Valley.)
Our conditions for acceptance are that the products are made in Israel and not imported, and that they are created in the simplest, most natural way, without additives or any other concentrated “enhancers.” Usually this means the products are hand crafted or made with simple, basic machinery. Many times it’s a one-person enterprise, while others have an entire kibbutz behind the product… But for us, the most important factor is that there are people behind it, as opposed to large, anonymous bodies. Your purchase is a direct one (which is why you are charged separately for it, making the economics somewhat confusing at times), allowing us to give the manufacturers the bulk of your payment, and a significant discount for you.
If you have any questions or thoughts you would like to share regarding the products, you can personally contact each manufacturer (their phone numbers appear in our order system) if you place your mouse cursor over the logo alongside the product.
