Thank you!

Small gifts

It’s clear someone was watching over us and helping us make this year’s Open Day at Chubeza yet another truly wonderful event.

The Open Day was an array of small gifts and wonders, and we want to extend special thanks to everyone who gave us a hand to make this such a special day:

To the Hazel Hill Band who came despite it all, and proved to everyone that the show indeed must go on. Many, many thanks to you! Our heartfelt appreciation for coming year after year, and this year especially. You touched our hearts and made us so happy.

Here’s hoping that you, too, have only wonderful, happy moments together.

To dear Talor, who led a fascinating, fun Foraging Walk at the end of a scorching hot day, our thanks for your professional initiative, grace and expertise. Everyone who took part came back happy and knowledgeable, and the yummy wild veggie patties they made were instantly devoured.

Talor leads Foraging Walks all year long. Here are Talor’s own words about her tours, plus her contact info:

What foraging means to me…

An opportunity to meet up close with the food I eat.

An opportunity to abandon the endless wandering among overloaded aisles of food, to discover instead where it grew and who harvested it.

An opportunity to enjoy the warm spring sun, with good companions, and to enjoy a homegrown, fresh and nutritious meal.

An opportunity to get better acquainted with the abundance of wonder growing right outside my door, and to use it on a daily basis.

I am happy to invite you to open a window of opportunities together with me, in a unique meeting of cooking and foraging.

The next Foraging Walk will take place in Emek Ha’Elah on Saturday, April 25, 2015. You are welcome to read more about the tour and sign up for it via this link (Hebrew).

To receive more information about foraging walks and other activities, write me at [email protected] and I’ll be glad to add you to my mailing list.

To the one and only Gabby, who – in perfect timing with the mighty heatwave that landed upon us, quickly organized a cart on which he led everyone on a tour of the field, from the height of his fancy tractor. Thank you so much for everything – for being there, for being a friend, for ongoing advice and support from our very start.

To Tidhar and Maya who volunteer on packing days and came to give a hand on this Open Day, calmly and with such great spirit. And to our loyal staff who were here for us on the Open Day, helping with whatever we might need, always thinking ahead how to do it best, with happiness, good will and care. Thank you for the daily, sometimes excruciating, work all year long, and for your partnership at all times.

We are always happy to extend our thanks to our families, our parents – David and Zehava Efrati, and Devora and Ezriel Sorek who come to every Open Day to help and support us, and to our better halves – Maya (Alon) and Yisrael (Bat Ami) and our charming children  (tfu tfu) – Neta, Shahar, Gefen, Immanuel, Talia, Sarah, Noga and Noga, on their first Open Day, thank you for allowing us to grow with Chubeza and make Chubeza what it is.

And last but not least, thank you all, those who have been with us for years, and those who joined us for the first time – clients and guests and everyone who came – thank you for your courage to come on that very hot day, your brave willingness to tour the field and all the goodness you bring to us.

Many many thanks. We are blessed!

Alon and Bat Ami and all of us at Chubeza
